The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, California in 2028, returning to the United States for the first time in over 30 years. 2028 will be the first time LA hosts the Paralympic Games, creating an opportunity to expand awareness, understanding and inclusion of people with disabilities.

Manager, Illustration & Motion Graphics
The Brand Design (BDL) team is responsible for overseeing the development and management of all LA28 visual brand IP. The LA28 brand identity has the first-ever variable Olympic and Paralympic logo and has an ever-expanding inventory of design assets. Along with developing and managing the core identity, the BDL team is responsible for marque Games design deliverables such as core graphic, pictograms, and torch in addition to internal creative services.
The Brand Design, Illustration & Motion Graphics Manager will report to and work closely with our Director of Brand Design in strong collaboration with the larger BDL team, key partners throughout the Marketing team, and across the organization, to meet the day-to-day branded creative needs of our business. Following the direction of a creative brief, you will create original best-in-class logo design and motion/animation graphics that brings the LA28 further to life. You’ll serve as a branding advocate internally, providing branding guidance, branding support, and actively updating un-branded or out-of-brand materials. You will be responsible for providing design insight and services, including maintenance of several tools that help further design reach at LA28. You'll navigate design processes to ensure design deliverables and timelines are met. In addition, you'll provide ideas that influence, increase, and improve the LA28 brand creative and drive updates to design standards in our brand guidelines. You will identify gaps and opportunities to serve the brand in a better and more personal way, and at the same time improve business opportunities. The shape of your day-to-day responsibilities will vary significantly, and you’ll adapt your style and influence accordingly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal teams on project concepts
- Determine voice and messaging for graphic design pieces
- Develop illustrations, logos, and other graphics as needed
- Develop original and dynamic motion/animation graphics as needed
- Advise on best practices and optimizations throughout design projects
- Present designs to stakeholders and applicable teams
- Implement feedback and changes when appropriate
- QA designs for errors
- Pass final design to development or publishing teams for release
- Take part in the exploration and production of digital and physical brand artifacts and materials.
- Pull together elements that bring ideas and presentations to life: helping to prepare materials, presentations, mood boards, layouts, and content.
- Collaborate with internal teams who will guide your work and invest in your growth and development as a designer—from art direction and research to iterating and production.
- Convey ideas, concepts, and thinking with clarity
Background & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of in-house or agency experience
- Strong design portfolio with well-presented current work that showcases your visual narrative skills
- Strong Proficiency in animation
- Strong illustration and logo design experience with example work
- Strong layout and typography
- Strong logo and motion experience
- Unique examples of conceptual thinking in storytelling, illustration, or motion work.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate design elements into a larger idea.
- Strong proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, C4D, PPT and an interest in up-and-coming design tools
- Experience producing printed and digital deliverables.

The annual base salary range for this position is $85,000.00 - $105,000.00. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28’s operational business needs and applicable law.
